Iowa announces COVID-19 relief program for movie theaters

Gov. Kim Reynolds and the Iowa Economic Development Authority are launching the Iowa Movie Theater Relief Program, which will offer short-term relief to help eligible movie theaters continue or resume operations during the current pandemic. The fund will provide up to $10,000 per screen to assist nearly 150 movie theaters housing approximately 550 screens in Iowa with operational expenses. The state allocated up to $5.5 million of federal CARES Act funds for the program, which will be offered through the IEDA. Applications are due Nov. 16.
